Reggaeton is a music genre that originated in Puerto Rico during the mid-90s. It has its own specific beat that combines rap with Caribbean rhythms. It has evolved from dancehall and has been influenced by American hip-hop, Caribbean and Latin American music. The genre became very popular across Latin America and it’s well accepted within mainstream Western music.
